Please also notice the ads for wi-fi radios.... the next big thing
since Clear Channel and the government are quickly killing AM and FM
with their greed and malfeasance. Please buy one (or even
HD) through my links. I'm thinking of buying one myself.
In February 2009, talker Dick Farrel moved from low-power brokered
WPBR 1340 to low-power WSVU "Seaview 960" -- 6 'til 7 PM,
Monday,Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.

A. He's scheduled for ear surgery in April. Good luck,
George!
NOTE (ADDED LATER): Surgery was a success!
Watch for George's commentary on the winter ratings book in the
April edition of Radio News, to be posted the last week of April.
(West Palm Beach, FL -- January 2009) ... Just days after the
inauguration, Gary Lawrence performed on keyboard
with the Bob Hoose Orchestra, in a big band concert at the South
Florida Fair. (That's Gary, at left, near the stool.)
Here's the funny part: The new Obama-like Pepsi logo appears above
the Pepsi Stage and the bandstands are all embossed BHO. Huh?
No, BHO doesn't stand for Barack Hussein Obama, as one might guess,
amongst all the overstated hooplah of inauguration week. It's the
Bob Hoose Orchestra, remember?
Gary Lawrence, who was bandleader
for adult music WFTL and Music Of Your Life WLQY, is currently
accepting bookings for the rest of 2009. Check out his YouTube channel
at right.
Don Imus is back on south Florida radio. He can be heard mornings
on WSVU "Seaview 960" in the Palm Beaches and Air America affiliate
"progressive" WINZ 940 in Miami.
Jim DeFede, whose stints at "progressive" WINZ and news/talk WFTL
both ended with acrimony (like his previous berth at the Miami Herald)
is now doing news for WFOR, Channel 4.
(Coral Springs, FL -- November 2008) ... Dennis Miller's
post-election WFTL appearance at Coral Springs Center was fun, but a
major disappointment. It was an interesting promotion, the night after the election. They didn't
sell tickets; they gave them to WFTL listeners. I was expecting some world-class
political humor, but his lame remarks about the election could be summarized in two sentences: He hopes
Obama can fix our problems. With McCain's war record, he was well-qualified.
Most of his anecdotes seemed to be about celebrities. Yawn. Maybe
he didn't realize it was a WFTL audience, not Entertainment Tonight!
At least it was only one hour long.
The P.U.R.E. Branding program offers exclusive branding rights to select advertisers.
Here's a bit of apparently little-known trivia about Adcahb Medical Coverages:
Adcahb is an acronym. It stands for ADam, wife
CArol, and children Heather and Bill.
Adam's latest book is Health Insurance 50% Less One day I stopped in at a WHDR promotion in west Broward, at a gas
station/convenience store.
Here's a vintage sci-fi TV show about a mad scientist/radio station engineer (Cliff Robertson) at KXKVI
(obviously not a valid call) who inadvertently brings an alien to earth via radio.
The Galaxy Being (pictured at right) was the pilot episode of The Outer Limits, first broadcast in 1963.
Strangely enough, it's the only episode I remember from my childhood.
Not an expensive advertising agency... a freelance copywriter. Brian, please
excuse me for putting the word "left" after your name.

"I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it
more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to
promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to
pass laws, but to repeal them. It is not to inaugurate new programs,
but to cancel old ones that do violence to the Constitution or that
have failed their purpose, or that impose on the people an unwarranted
financial burden. I will not attempt to discover whether legislation
is "needed" before I have first determined whether it is
constitutionally permissible. And if I should later be attacked for
neglecting my constituents "interests, " I shall reply that I was
informed that their main interest is liberty and that in that cause I
am doing the very best I can." -- Barry Goldwater (quoted on
Boortz.com)
